Birthday
My birthday took place during this past weekend and it was great! My family took me out to a Chinese restaurant for dinner, which was very nice, and we had a delicious tiramisu birthday cake for me. I also got a chance to meet old friends from high school, and received wonderful surprise birthday presents this year! God has been so good to me. Some of the things I got include a cool watch, money, several Christian books, and an awesome brand new DVD+VHS player! Woohoo! (Which means now I can finally watch my copy of the “Amazing Grace” DVD that I’ve had for a while! :))
Unbeknownst to me, some friends found my “Wishlist” at Amazon.com and bought me several items there. One of the books I was excited about getting is Church History in Plain Language since I’ve been wanting to have it for a very long time now. I’ve heard it recommended quite a few times by pastors and seminary students. In fact, my friend who studied at Reformed Theological Seminary once told me that after failing the exams in his church history class, he decided to read this book to study for the final exam (instead of the textbook assigned) and scored an A on the final exam! It’s even included in James White’s suggestions for great Christian books (who happens to be one of my favorite authors), so it must be really good. Church history is definitely something that I need and desire to learn more. I’m sure that I’ll be blessed through the reading of this book.
Then, another super uber cool friend got me Worldly Saints - a book on the Puritans, their theology, and how they lived. It’ll be fascinating to read about the Puritans! My favorite Puritan writers are Thomas Watson and Jeremiah Burroughs. On top of that, I also got Always Ready by Greg Bahnsen on the subject of presuppositional apologetics and The Autobiography of George Muller. Needless to say, I’m very, very happy!
I just wanted to thank my wonderful brother Will, and my cool thoughtful friends Josh, Gary, John, and Jennifer here for the generous birthday gifts and especially for your gift of friendship!

Hey Jessica! Whoa, I didn’t realize it was your birthday, so sorry this comes quite a bit after the fact! (I’m often the last to arrive at the party.
) Nevertheless I wanted to wish you a very belated but very happy birthday! May the Lord bless you to continue to grow wise and excellent in all your ways.

Hi “tricky Patrick-y”, thanks for your nice thoughts!
Oh wait, or is it “Sir Patricknator”?
Often the last to arrive at the party, eh… ha ha ha… Well, poor you, you must’ve been missing lots of the good food and cake.
Hope you’ve been well… Thanks again for your kind wish!

Hey…. speaking of books…. I think I’ve suggested this to you in private, but perhaps making a big stinking deal of it right here in front of everyone might help…. I think you would absolutely LOVE Abraham Booth’s “Reign Of Grace” PHENOMENAL book… best book I’ve ever read… besides THE book.
If you read it you’d thank me. Bye

Hey Charles, I didn’t know you changed your name to Ehaz.
Sounds like one of those names one may find in the Old Testament or something.
