Christian Conferences

Thanks to my friend Patrick, I was just informed of a page created by Tim Challies that lists upcoming conferences related to Reformed theology or that would be of interest to Reformed Christians.  Lord willing, I would love to be able to attend the upcoming Resolved Conference in California on February 2007, featuring speakers like John MacArthur, John Piper, C.J. Mahaney, Steve Lawson!  I’d really like to stop by and visit MacArthur’s home church at Grace Community Church, too.  The conference is based on The Resolutions of Jonathan Edwards, written when he was a teenager.  I’d encourage anyone to check out his Resolutions by clicking the link.  It’s everything I’d like to add into my new year resolutions list! :D  I’m not sure yet if I can go, but please pray for me that God would open doors for me to be able to attend.  I’m making every attempt to do what I can in planning and going, and I hope I won’t have obstacles that may hinder.  If any of you are planning to go, please contact me and perhaps we can meet together, fellowship, and hang out at the conference!  It’ll be so exciting to spend that weekend fellowshipping with other like-minded believers, worshipping God, and being absorbed together in His Word (as well as learning from a Puritan like Jonathan Edwards).  That sounds like so much fun!! :)

    Hello Jessica

I am sorry that I will not be able to attend any of the conferences in California. Nevertheless, I am planning to be at a Ligonier conference in Lexington Ky. The Speaker will be RC Sproul (of course) and Al Mohler. It is not a biggie because it is in reasonable driving distance.

I am attending the conference for three reasons. The first is that I really don’t take much vacation time from work and this is good reason to take some time off. I usually meet up with my best friend who has grown into the Reformed faith with me, which is the second reason. After the conference, we get a chance to “male-bond” for a couple days. The third the reason is to be fed a diet I don’t get at church much. As you know, I often don’t get to go to church much because of my work. However, when I do attend I feel like a stranger. I use to tell the folks at the church I use to attend at my hometown it is nice to be with “your own kind.” (I use to attend a Christian and Missionary Alliance church which is overwhelmingly Arminian!)

If you do go, I hope that you have a wonderful time of fellowship and spiritual growth. I hope that my friend and I will experience the same on November 3.

    Your Brother

Hi Tim, thanks for letting me know. Regrettably I won’t be able to attend the Ligonier Conference you mentioned. That’s so cool you’ll get to meet and hear speakers like R.C. Sproul and Al Mohler! I hope you’ll have a wonderful time of fellowship there!

Unfortunately, there’s nothing even remotely close to hickville, Arkansas. :(

Timothy, thanks for sharing the cool Resolved T-Shirt. I like the funny pictures of MacArthur (holding the MacArthur’s Study Bible, of course), John Piper, and C.J. Mahaney on it. :)
