Tabling Tennis
I’ve been watching U.S. Open tennis on television on and off this week. I love tennis. I enjoy the sport, though I may not be very good at it. I’m actually better at the other tennis. I mean, the one on the table. :) It’s just unfortunate we don’t see table tennis matches on television. According to International Olympic Committee, table tennis happens to be the world’s largest participation sport. But why isn’t it a very “popular” sport in America? Well, I just read this interesting article from yesterday’s The New York Times newspaper. It talks about why America is the one country that ignores table tennis, though elsewhere worldwide there are hundreds of millions of casual players and 40 million competitive table tennis players. I chuckled when I read “table tennis is more Zen than blood sport.” It also discusses a few reasons why it’s the “most un-American of American sports.” :)

I know I feel sorry for Mr. Agassi…it’s my understanding he was writhing in back pain. Oh well, good for him that he went out with pride, though!
