Okay, I’ve narrowed down my choices on churches I’m considering.  I thought I’d list them here for my convenience.

  3. Trinity United Reformed Church (URCNA) of Walnut Creek - 32 mins
  4. Covenant Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Berkeley - 25 mins
  5. Providence OP Chapel (OPC & EPer) in Castro Valley - 13 mins
  6. First Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC & EPer) in San Francisco - 40 mins
  7. Livermore Reformed Baptist Church - 29 mins
  8. Christ Reformed Evangelical Church (FIRE) in Castro Valley (sermons) - 12 mins

    Hello Jessica,

I will respond to one of your earlier post when I get a little more time. I will tell you I wish I have a good United Reformation Churches in North America where I live (like Christian Reformed Evangelical Church). Heard it is a real good denomination. This is the denomination that Mikey Horton is a member.

I grew up United Methodist and then moved to the Christian Missionary Alliance when I became an adult and now I moved to a different town I been attending churches in my area that is more reformed.

Cool. :-) Did you attend any of these today? If you did, how was it?

Patrick, you said my list is cool, though it only has 2 credobaptist churches. ;) This morning I listened LIVE online to the Livermore Reformed Baptist Church’s worship service ’cause I didn’t have the car for today. Yep, you said it was your #1 choice out of all that’re on my list. I actually loved it! It was great! They were traditional in singing and atmosphere. They had such reverential attitude in worship. I’d definitely attend that one for sure soon.

Hi Tim, oops, actually the church affiliated with URCNA that I meant to put was Trinity United Reformed Church (not Christian Reformed Evangelical Church). Do you happen to know the URCNA’s views on the ordination of women as pastor? I’m not sure but I’m assuming they oppose it.

    Hey Jessica,

Wow, that’s cool that you listened to the Livermore RBC online! If you do end up joining (um, no pressure! ;-) ), I “believe” we would be part of the same California assoc. of RBCs. Or something like that anyway. I could be wrong about this, but if I remember correctly, the association does meet once a year, I think. Hm, actually, I should double-check on that. Anyway, yeah, just thought I’d point that out.

Of course, to be honest, I sometimes find it a wee bit difficult to “fit in” with others in the church primarily because, well, it’s a bit far from where I live (~45min each way) so I can’t attend as regularly as I’d like. Plus there aren’t too many other Asians. I don’t know if this is the case with the Livermore RBC, but it might be something to consider before you decide to join.

BTW, I’ll send you some photos of my nephew! :-)

    Hey Jessica,

    Here is their homepage, http://www.covenant-urc.org/urchrchs.html

I don’t know what their position on their views on the ordination of women as pastor. I know Kim Riddlebarger (he is a man, LOL) is a pastor at Christ Reformed Church (http://www.christreformed.org/) in Anaheim, CA.

I was disappointed that there is NO URCNA in WV

Patrick, yep, I know what you mean about the whole “fitting in” thingy since I’ve sort of experienced it myself before. Glad to know you can relate. I’m striving to find a church where I could have both fellowship and sound Bible teaching (and not sacrifice either) and look forward to find one like that soon. And oh, you brought up a good point about distance… Also one that’s not too far away, so I could commute and get actively involved in activities. :)

Thanks, I just saw them! He’s sooo cute with chubby cheeks. :) Soon lil’ Giovanni will be calling you “uncle Patrick.” :)
