Christians vs. Atheists Debate on ABC News
I heard there will be a debate between Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron (both from The Way of the Master ministry) and two atheists that you can watch at ABC News Now on Wednesday May 9, 2007 at 2 P.M. EST, and then on Nightline at 11:35 P.M. I’m not sure of the details but I think it’s not a televised program, but probably only watchable online through that link.

Yes, you may notice Kirk Cameron as the actor of Mike Seaver from Growing Pains. I’m not quite sure what to expect of the debate, but if you’re interested, there’s more info on the debate here.

Bahnsen-Stein
Bahnsen-Tabash
Bahnsen-Martin (the guy who never showed up)

Hey Dave,
Glad to hear from you. Actually I only have one blog currently (which is this one) plus a website. Seriously, one blog is enough for me because I don’t have time to keep more than one.
So, any other blogs must be old and no longer valid.
Oh, that’s sad that the debate is not great. But I guess I’m not too surprised. I’m sure the Bahnsen vs. Stein debate is much better and more scholarly to listen to. And I am leaning on presuppositional apologetics anyway.

Hi Darren:
Ha ha ha
I don’t know who Martin is, but is that really true that he never showed up for the debate with Bahnsen? Was it because he was afraid? I’d like to know more about that. Yes, I have heard “The Great Debate” between Bahnsen and Stein. It was so funny when Bahnsen showed the holes in Stein’s arguments with his presuppositional approach. I remember the audience laughed so much in that debate.

LOL Yes, I enjoyed the Bahnsen-Stein debate a great deal. Chang told me he thought the debate wasn’t evenly matched: a philosopher vs. a scientist. Which only goes to show philosophy’s inherent superiority, not to mention that of the Christian worldview.
Here’s a link to the Bahnsen-Martin “debate”:

Yes, it’s true that he never came to the debate. He cancelled two weeks beforehand saying that he didn’t want to support a Christian ministry by having recorded copies of the debate sold. During the lectures he deliverd in lieu of the debate, Bahnsen thought the real reason was the Martin thought he would lose the debate. Hmm… it’s hard to tell what people’s motives are. It’s still a great lecture series.

Hi Jessica, From what I saw of the debate, I thought Comfort and Cameron did okay. I know they have received heavy criticism from many Christian bloggers but I believe they did about as well as most who engage in these debates.

By the way, if anyone is interested or knows someone who’s interested in doing one-on-one or panel-style (2 vs. 2) debates or discussions in the Bay Area, please let me know. The group I used to work with would be interested in talking more with you.
I’m at secondary at teach bible dotcm. Thanks and God bless!

Hi Pastor Randy, I’m glad they did good. Thanks for the info. I’ve not personally heard the debate myself, so it’s nice to hear your feedback on that. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Darren: I hope you get to hear from people who’re interested in that.
So what will the debate be like? Or what will the event be like? Just curious, it sounds interesting.

Hi, Jessica,
Thanks for writing! We’re still working on the details for an upcoming debate. They would get worked out faster if we had more people to work with.
We once had a formal debate between Chang and David Fitzgerald, an atheist, over the existence of God. We’ve also had panel discussions (myself and two Jehovah’s Witnesses) as well as round table discussions.
I hope a debate can take place while I’m in town so I can attend. We’ll see.
