A Review of The Monstrous Regiment of Women

The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women DVD“Barefoot and pregnant” in my kitchen (just kidding :) ), I watched the new Gunn brothers’ DVD The Monstrous Regiment of Women and was discouraged by the reality of what has happened due to the pervasive influence of feminism in our culture, yet encouraged by the Christian ladies who so articulately and clearly defended God’s truth against the onslaught of such femi-nazi non-sense.

The interviewees were prime examples of godly, biblical, Christian ladies who seek to exemplify the Proverbs 31 Woman. Some of them are authors who write about the importance of being a biblical wife and mother, and also give practical advice in doing so. Stacy McDonald (author of Raising Maidens of Virtue) and Jennie Chancey (from Ladies Against Feminism) are two amongst them. Their advice is much needed in this day, and I’m thankful for their contributions.

The Gunn Brothers did an excellent job in documenting from a Christian perspective how feminism has had a devastating impact on the church, state, and family. Subjects covered include feminism and socialism, women in the military, modesty, women in the workplace, daycare, Margaret Sanger, abortion, Planned Parenthood, Hillary Clinton, birth control, Betty Friedan, and the woman’s role in the family. This film served as a great encouragement not only for its exposé of the Feminist agenda, but its call for Christian wives and mothers to return to their honorable roles as defined in Scripture.

I think that this film is a breath of fresh air to those of us who are made to feel menial for pursuing such a biblical call, and serves as an encouragement for us to indeed fulfill the high calling of “keepers at home.”

Oct. 15th is the last day for free shipping, in case you’re interested to purchase a copy. I wholeheartedly recommend this film to other ladies as well as men, and to any Christian as well as all outside the church.

Watch the trailer:

And here’s an interesting video clip on Hillary Rodham Clinton…

    Hi Jessica!

This doesn\’t have nothing to do with this entry (although I\’m encouraged to see at least one more woman out there who not only believes she should be holy and godly, but actually attempts at living it out). Instead, I must ask about the Desiring God Conference. How was it? Were you blessed by God through Piper (or perhaps through anybody else you met)? Please, tell us!

As an aside, I\’m sorry that I couldn\’t go, and I would have liked to have gone to this conference, however now that the weekend is past (or nearly so), I\’m actually happy that I didn\’t go. God had plans for me this weekend, and I\’ve grown all that much more because of those experiences. This is one more confirming mark for me that I must ultimately submit to the providence of God and his sovereignty in my life.

Anyway, I pray you have a blessed week this week, and I await your report of Desiring God 2007. :-)

    Jess,

I share your enthusiasm for this documentary by the Gunns. It was also an encouragement to the men out there who want to be godly husbands and biblical fathers.

I was particularly touched (and disgusted) by the portion concerning Abortion. Oh the wickedness of our country! This definitely brought me to a further realization that I need to pray on behalf of my nation, as Daniel prayed on behalf of his.

    God have mercy on us.

Thanks for the review, Ma’am. :D

[...] Order It Today! By Josh Well, I certainly encourage you to order your copy today of the Gunn Productions’ The Monstrous Regiment of Women. So long as you buy this gem before October 15th, you’ll get free shipping, and the shipping is fast! This doucmentary was a welcome addition to my very small DVD collection (I’m more into books ), and I want to point you to a good friend of mine’s review on The Monstrous Regiment, as I think she captures well the substance of the film. Jess, film ini is very unlikely to enter Indonesia… But I will look for it in Singapore or Malaysia, perhaps in Christian bookstore ya?

Thanks for the compliment on my short hair :D Aku pernah panjang dan kata orang2 keliatan cantik, tapi kurang sesuai dengan pembawaan yang kayak preman, jadi direkomendasi pendek aja, hihihi…

Aku tunggu aja tulisan kamu tentang DG conference nanti, take a really good rest supaya bisa lekas fit dengan sempurna. Dr. Piper betul2 humble yah (baca komentar Hedonese)? Padahal selain banyak yang setuju dengan Enjoying God dia, banyak juga yang sangat tidak setuju.

    Hey Jess,

Thanks so much for posting this. I have wanted to learn more about feminism and its affects on us. I am so against it. This is really going to help me with my english class as well! Hope you are doing well, it has been a while since we’ve talked.

Hi Grace! Oh yes, it’s unfortunate if the film will not enter Indonesia. Well, it’s also newly released, too. Hopefully you will be able to find it in Singapore. :) Let me know if you get to watch it.

Hey Elisa! Yeah, long time no talk. I hope things are going well with you. I’m so glad you visited here. I hope you enjoy watching the film. Can you believe, I watched it twice. That’s how much I enjoy it. :)

    Hi Grace,

Actually, I don’t think you’ll find it in Indonesia or Singapore for now. I believe it is currently available only through their online store. That is how I purchased my own copy. Just visit MonstrousRegiment.com. I would suggest that you try to contact them first (their email should be listed on the site) to ask if they could ship internationally before you place an order. Yes, I think this is the best method to get it. Please let me know or keep me updated if you’re able to get it, sis. :) Would love to hear your opinions, too, after you watch it. :)

Hi Princess, this is me reporting from Changi Airport waiting for my 3-hour delayed flight :( (…

You are right. I just visited a Christian book store & warehouse here to no avail. A handful books to carry now, but no Gunn Brothers. I’ll try your suggestion but unsure whether it can be shipped to here or not. Let’s see :) Hope your days have been meaningful!
